Classical Salford: Schubert's Trout Quintet (February 15)

Thursday 11 February 2016

CLASSICAL music returns to Salford this month with a performance of one of Schubert’s most celebrated chamber works The Trout Quintet.

Our Chamber Music Salford series is a partnership between the BBC Philharmonic, Salford City Council and ourselves at the Salford University, and enables the local and student community to see top class musicians in the superb setting of the University’s Peel Hall (on The Crescent, pictured above).

The Trout Quintet simply brims with melody, no surprise since Schubert was one of the most prolific composers of songs in the history of music – and his charming masterpiece gained its name because its fourth movement is a set of theme and variations upon Schubert’s beautiful song Die Forelle (The Trout).

We are delighted to be able to welcome Sarah Brandwood Spencer, Ronan Dunne and Viv McClean amongst other guests from the BBC Philharmonic, to provide what will doubtless be a breathtaking performance.

Chamber Music Salfordaims to bring high-level chamber music performances to Salford, welcoming to audiences of all levels of experience of concert music. To hear beautiful music at the end of a long day and at the start of the working week, could be just the thing to set you up for the days that follow.

We look forward to seeing you on Monday 15 February 2016, 5.45pm- 6.45pm.
