Cyber security: academia and industry join forces

CYBER intelligence experts from 30 companies will be invited to collaborate with University of Salford researchers at an event on February 17.

Government at home and abroad is offering funding to businesses and universities who collaborate on solutions to a host of security issues posed via information systems.

Our event at MediaCity, is hosted by the School of Computing, Science and Engineering with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (Northern Chapter).

Dr Ali Dehghantanha, presents Connecting dots between academia and industries in cyber security setting out how companies in cyber security can collaborate with the University. Colleagues from the Enterprise Office will explain what UK and EU funds are available for collaboration with companies.

Dr Dehghantanha, a recent contributor on BBC radio to discussions around cyber crime and cyber terrorism, said: “Organisations are now taking information security very seriously but we are far from watertight in many areas. This conference is a timely look at the gaps in our common knowledge and how we can increasingly apply strategies in partnership in order for them to be effective.”
