Salford hosts International Marketing Conference

Monday 19 December 2016

Have you ever considered how the Brexit vote could have an impact on international marketing? Or whether employees who use social media could be harming their employer’s reputation?

Taking place on 19th December at Media City UK, The University of Salford is set to host the first International Marketing Conference, which will look in to contemporary issues that influence international marketing.

The conference features a key note speech from renowned expert in his field, Emeritus Professor Malcolm H.B McDonald. Prof McDonald will give insider knowledge as to how businesses can develop a winning strategy, in order for them to boost sales and profits.

Dr James Mulkeen, Associate Dean of the University of Salford Business School, who will be speaking at the conference, said: “Brexit and changes in online habits mean that the world is constantly changing. Modern issues associated with marketing can become blurred, and the aim of this conference is to add clarity to this issue. The conference features research papers that discuss how these issues feed into the overall bigger picture of business relationships.”

The conference is co-organised by the University’s Dr Jonathon Swift, Senior Lecturer in International Business & Marketing, Dr Tahir Rashid, Senior Lecturer in Digital Marketing and Strategy, and Dr Neil Robinson, lecturer in business.

Dr Neil Robinson said: “This is a key event for the business community to attend, and it is an excellent opportunity to get insider knowledge in to a range of modern issues that are faced in international marketing. The world is constantly evolving, and it is important that businesses have a clear understanding about these issues. This will become an annual conference hosted by the University of Salford.”

Several other academics from Salford Business School will also be presenting their research papers including Professor Sunil Sahadev Dr Aleksej Heinze and Dr Kevin Kane.

The conference is being sponsored by Salford Business School, Santander Bank and Howarth Timber. Further details about the conference can be found here: http://www.salford.ac.uk/conferencing-at-salford/conference-management/current-conference/imc-2016
