Science bloggers gather at University of Salford

Thursday 25 February 2016

SCIENCE-lovers from across Manchester and Salford gather to kick start a new science website to herald the European City of Science.

Around 70 scientists, professional and amateur, have signed up to the event at MediaCity on Monday, February 29.

Hosted by the University of Salford and delivered by the Greater Manchester universities, the event seeks to encourage people to blog about science in the lead up to the main ECOS events this summer.

Participants will hear from leading experts on science blogging and have a chance to write their own post with tips from Stephen Harris (The Conversation) and writers from Digital Science.

Andy Miah, professor of science communication, said: “As Manchester enters its year as European City of Science, the University of Salford wants to put digital science communication at the heart of the programme. We have invited people to donate their extra leap year day to science and contribute to Manchester’s science renaissance.”
