Shortlist announced for North West Construction Awards 2016

Thursday 21 April 2016

FROM all parts of the construction and infrastructure sector – from heritage to residential and transport to education, firms from across the North West have made the shortlist for this year’s Regional Construction Awards.

Now in its 10th year, the North West Regional Construction Awards are organised by The University of Salford and Constructing Excellence North West and supported by lead sponsor Hill Dickinson.

The prestigious event will take place on June 30 at Liverpool’s Titantic Hotel (Stanley Dock), compered by broadcaster Louise Minchin.

Entries for the awards have been received from right across Merseyside, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Cumbria, and from all parts of the construction supply chain from clients to consultants and contractors.

Northern Powerhouse

Chair of Judges, Peter McDermott, Professor of Construction Management at the University's School of Built Environment, said: “These awards seek out the very best people, firms and projects, to share best practice and inspire others to better ways of working to create outstanding construction and infrastructure for our region.

“The judges have been privileged to see the evidence of outstanding leadership, skills, collaboration and innovation. The message to investors, policy-makers and government is loud and clear; that the region is ready and willing to deliver against all of the challenges emerging around the Northern Powerhouse.”

Last year’s winners included Balfour Beatty for the Alexandra Park Restoration, Manchester; Kier for Project Arizona: The Walton Centre, Liverpool; and Mott Macdonald’s Jason Hyde was Young Achiever of the Year.

Winners go forward to the National Constructing Excellence Awards to compete with the other English Regions and Wales in London later this year.
