The Annual Salford Alumni Lecture

Monday 29 February 2016

The University is delighted to welcome back to Salford, alumnus Javed Khan, Chief Executive of Barnardo’s.

Javed will deliver the inaugural Salford Alumni Lecture, a new initiative that will see a Salford graduate delivering a talk each year, as part of our acclaimed Salford Lecture Series. The title of this first lecture is: ‘No Child Left Behind-Transforming Life Chances For 150 years.’

You are invited to join us for this inspiring evening which will take place on Wednesday 9 March 2016 commencing at 6.00pm in the Chapman Building, University of Salford.

With thirty years’ experience, Javed is a well-respected figure in the UK public and voluntary sectors. Previously he served as Chief Executive at Victim Support, which helps over a million victims and witnesses each year.

As Barnardo’s celebrate their 150th year, the charity’s Chief Executive will talk about the changing social care policy and practice landscape in the UK over the past 150 years and how the charity has continuously adapted and grown in response to meet the changing needs of the most vulnerable children and families.

Last year Barnado’s helped transform the lives of more than 240,000 of the UK’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families. Many more were helped by campaigning to change policy and public opinion. The Charity is celebrating their landmark year with an eye to the future and a determination to progress towards their vision of a world in which every child has the same chance to fulfil his or her potential.
