MBA success for executive

Friday 8 December 2017

AN EXECUTIVE says his career has been given a boost thanks to completing an MBA part-time at the University of Salford.

Colin Cassidy graduated from the Salford Business School this week. He attended the Winter Graduation ceremony in the Maxwell Hall on the Peel Park campus of the University with his family.

Colin, who has three children, completed the course part time over the last two years while continuing in his role as a manager at STERIS, an American company that produces medical equipment.

Despite working full time he achieved a Distinction.

Colin said: “It was tricky to juggle all of my various commitments but the University tutors and my classmates made it achievable. It was this support that was important to me, actually having face to face time during my MBA rather than just online. I learnt a huge amount about harnessing technology in the corporate world, especially in global supply chains, I believe this knowledge will really aid my career.

I always wanted to complete an MBA, and the modular course at Salford seemed to be the perfect opportunity. My work was very supportive with my qualification.

“I just wanted to do something that would take me to the next step in my career.

“I admit, it was very intense at times, with lots of time spent reading, researching and writing, but with the support of my family I achieved my goal.”

Dr Jonathan Lord, his supervisor on the MBA programme said: “It’s a tough challenge studying while also working full time and looking after a family too. Colin really put the hours in and he got the result he deserved. I’m sure he will go on to have a successful career helped by the skills and knowledge he has picked up on the course.”
