NSS data show improvement

Wednesday 9 August 2017

The latest results from the National Student Survey (NSS), published today (9 August), show that 84% of students are happy with their time in Salford.

This is an increase on last year of 2% and continues an upward trend over the past three years. Salford now outperforms many of its competitors in metrics such as the quality of teaching and academic support on its courses.

Coming a week before A-level results, Dr Sam Grogan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience said of the results: “Salford has performed well in the National Student Survey this year. I’m particularly proud that for the question ‘Has my course has provided me with opportunities to apply what I have learnt’ we are nearly 2% above the sector average.

“Our focus on the development of our Industrial Collaboration Zones makes it clear that we take very seriously providing our students with an educational experience that will set them up for a successful and sustained career.

The NSS result comes just weeks after the latest Destination of Leavers in Higher Education (DLHE) data showed that 92.1% of Salford graduates are in work or further study, again an increase on last year.

Dr Grogan added: “These two sets of data show that the University of Salford is taking positive strides forwards in ensuring an excellent student experience and our strategy of working in partnership with industry is paying off. We are well placed to continue to build on this performance in the future.”
