Salford Business Awards open for entries

Friday 17 February 2017

Entries are now open for the 2017 Salford Business Awards, sponsored by Talk Talk Group.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the awards and businesses of all sizes and from all types of industry can nominate themselves in one or more of the eight categories, in what has become the most prestigious business event in the city. The winners will be announced at a spectacular gala dinner and celebration at the AJ Bell Stadium on Thursday 25th May.

This year there are eight categories up for grabs, including a community award, entrepreneur award an innovation award and the business of the year award.

The awards are organised in partnership between the University of Salford, The Business Group and Salford City Council.

Professor Helen Marshall , Vice Chancellor of the University of Salford said: “Salford is home to some of the most innovative and exciting businesses in the UK.

“They make a vital contribution to the economy, invest in regeneration and create opportunities for local people and to making the City of Salford great.

“I’m excited to be celebrating those businesses and the contribution they make. Good luck to everyone who enters.”

City Director, Jim Taylor, said:  “This is a great opportunity for Salford businesses and entrepreneurs to showcase the fantastic work they do and gain the recognition they deserve. We’re 100% behind good businesses in Salford creating jobs, investing in our local communities and building on the long and proud history of trade and commerce in our thriving city.”

Paul Wainwright, chair, The Business Group said:  “We’ve heard some fantastic success stories from Salford’s businesses over the past ten years and we’re sure there are many more to be heard.  If you’re a Salford-based business and want to celebrate with us in May then submit your application online now.”

Last year Mettler Toledo Safeline scored a hat trick of wins as they claimed the Large Business of the Year, the Excellence Award, and the Innovation Award.

Alan Purvis, Managing Director of the company said: “The application process was very easy, as long as you’ve got a story, all you have to do is tell that story. The main reason we applied was for the morale, motivation and enthusiasm of our 300 employees, and that’s always a good thing.

“Salford Business Awards is actually an award for the community of business, its equally fun for everybody. I can’t think of a reason why a company that was confident about its achievements and would want to be recognised wouldn’t want to apply.”
