Salford supports global ethical finance conference

Tuesday 29 August 2017

THE UNIVERSITY of Salford Business School is supporting partner at a major ethical business conference taking place next month.

The second Global Ethical Finance Forum (GEFF) will take place in Edinburgh in September, following a successful inaugural event in 2015.

Across two days GEFF 2017 will include a series of sessions focusing on the massive opportunity that lies in promoting ethical finance, particularly across its three main segments: Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) and Islamic/faith-based finance.

The forum aims to drive thought leadership across a wide range of topics, including green bonds, financial inclusion, ethical banking, among others, with the vision of bringing ethics to the forefront of business.

Dr Nazam Dzolkarnaini, lecturer ethical finance at the University of Salford said: “One of the aims of the conference is to raise the profile of ethical business and show that there are more ethical ways of doing business. I’m excited to be attending the event again and that Salford is a supporting member of the event.

“There will be experts from all over the world, as well as leaders from many major nations. If we can come up with new ideas and put pressure on Governments and business to act in a more ethical way then the GEFF will have been a success.

“Supporting the event is highly consistent with the work undertaken at the School’s Centre for Social Business particularly in the areas of sustainable communities and business ethics.”

Based on a strategic partnership with Islamic Finance Council UK (UKIFC), GEFF is supported by the UK Government and will be hosted by the

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), building upon the legacy of the inaugural Forum held in September 2015.

The forum will take place on 13th and 14th of September at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS)’s Conference Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland.
