Big comedy names return to New Adelphi Theatre

Tuesday 2 October 2018

THE WORLDS of comedy and musical theatre will collide as a smash hit show returns to the University of Salford’s New Adelphi Theatre.

Big comedy names will perform their favourite songs from musicals and films when the sell-out Amusical show comes to the venue on Wednesday October 3.

Stars appearing in the show will perform their favourite songs from musicals and films – accompanied by in-house band Dave And the Quavers – and the audience has to vote on who’s best.

The show will feature Stephen Bailey, who was host of Channel 5’s Celebs On The Farm and can also be seen as the resident agony uncle on ITV1’s Zoe Ball On Saturday And Sunday and was described by the British Comedy Guide as ‘a superstar in the making’.

Dan Nightingale, best known for compering weekend nights at Manchester’s Frog And Bucket, will also appear along with Rachel Fairburn – one half of the best-selling All Killa No Filla tour – 2016 Chortle Student Comedy Award finalist Josh Jones, and Canadian born comic Dana Alexander.

The show is brought to Salford by Jayde Adams, who won the 2014 Funny Women award and appeared on panel shows such as Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, along with Kiri Pritchard-McLean,who has appeared on The Russell Howard Hour and has taught on the University’s own Comedy Writing And Performance programme.

If you love comedy, musicals and comedians almost certainly getting horribly drunk to cope with the nerves of singing in front of a live audience, then come along and get those jazz hands at the ready.

Kiri Prichard Mclean said: “This extravaganza promises to be the talk of the town, featuring some of the finest comedians on the circuit belting out the biggest hits from stage and screen, and more sequins than you can shake a stick at.

“If you love comedy, musicals and comedians almost certainly getting horribly drunk to cope with the nerves of singing in front of a live audience, then come along and get those jazz hands at the ready.”

The show is coming to the 350 seat New Adelphi Theatre as part of an autumn programme which also includes comedy acts such as the Suspiciously Cheap Comedy Night and an exclusive look at LipService Theatre’s new show Strangers On A Train Set,along with big band concerts, cutting-edge dance projects, and even £3 Monday night film screenings.
