Construction awards open to entries

Tuesday 15 January 2019

ENTRIES are now open for the 13th North West Regional Construction Awards, with a shortlist due in May.

More than 100 entries were made in 2018 in the awards which judge best practice in the industry from Cumbria to Chester.

The awards are hosted by the School of the Built Environment at the University of Salford, Constructing Excellence North West and the Centre for Construction Innovation.

They are sponsored by Hill Dickinson, Place North West, Hays, Place Tech and Clear (Communications) with the ceremony taking place at The Titanic Hotel, Liverpool on July 12, 2019.

Winners drive change

Head judge Professor Peter McDermott from the University of Salford said: “We saw great things in 2018 and it was a privilege to witness how the North West responded to both the challenges of the market place and a changing policy environment.

“We all know the sector needs change, but our winners are not hanging around waiting for it. They are driving change themselves, be it in the way they treat their people or in how they look to add value at every stage.

For last year's winners go to the website http://www.constructionawardsnw.co.uk/finalists.html

The 2019 awards are designed to incentivise and award SMEs, contractors, suppliers and clients who deliver environmental, economic and social benefits to society and demonstrate good behaviours, such as paying supply chains on time, collaborating, protecting the environment or properly rewarding their people.

It is the most significant celebration of best practice and best value in the North West and the only event of its kind that connects every single discipline of construction working towards a sustainable built environment.

Constructing Excellence

Added Peter: “These entries not only help us highlight that best practice works but demonstrates how construction can play a vital contribution to inclusive growth in our region.

“We're challenging the North West clients, designers, engineers, builders, suppliers and everyone else in the supply chain to step up and enter our awards.”

Excellence will be demonstrated through adherence to Constructing Excellence principles, the Rethinking Construction agenda and Construction 2025.

The Construction sector employs between 350-400,000 people in the North West.
