Excitement grows at line-up for Manchester International Festival

CONGRATULATIONS to Manchester International Festival on a stunning line-up for this year’s festival 4 - 21 July 2019!

Having previously announced world premieres from Yoko Ono, Idris Elba and Kwame Kwei-Armah, Skepta and a special open-air event with Janelle Monáe in the Castlefield Bowl, the full programme was made public at 1pm today (March 07)

It includes Invisible Cities a world premiere of a spellbinding mix of theatre, music, design and digital production, The Anvil, an elegy for Peterloo, the Nico Project (pictured) with Maxine Peake and Philip Glass and Phelim McDermott’s Tao of Glass.

Reacting to the announcement Sam Ingleson, Associate Dean; Engagement, Enterprise &partnership in the University’s School of Arts & Media said: “Manchester International Festival (MIF) is famous for bringing the world’s best-known artists to the city and this year’s line-up is an exciting mix of international and local artists.

“It’s such an amazing focus for the public and especially for our students who really feel at the centre of something.”

The School of Arts and Media has developed a strong relationship with MIF, supporting the Festival’s events and enhancing our students’ artistic, visual and creative skills by working closely with them.

University of Salford students from the School have been given unrivalled access to work alongside their internationally acclaimed production teams and gained invaluable experience.

Added Sam: “Through our partnership with MIF we have a number of bespoke placements for students,giving them unique access to world class artists and events that will enhance their future career prospects and aspirations."
