Salford rises 19 places in Complete University Guide

Wednesday 25 April 2018

THE COMPLETE University Guide published its latest rankings today, showing that Salford has climbed a tremendous 19 places to 79th of 131 UK universities. This is our highest league table position since 2014.

The tables – compiled by Mayfield University Consultants – are drawn up from data provided by the Higher Education Statistics Agency and UK Funding Councils.

Universities are measured on 10 areas including the quality of teaching and learning, research and job prospects.

Regionally, we have leapfrogged over Chester to sit at eighth place of universities in the north west. Nationally, only two, Staffordshire and Norwich University of Arts, have risen faster than Salford.

Job prospects improving

Salford University has improved in employability outcomes for graduates, spend on facilities, student satisfaction, entry standards and the ratio of staff to students, the survey says.

Vice- Chancellor Helen Marshall said: “To have made this jump and to be recognised as the third fastest improving university is a remarkable achievement.

“I am grateful to staff and to students for their efforts and consistent focus in driving this University forward.

“Success in the UK rankings is more tangible evidence that our strategic direction and operational plans are having a positive impact."
