Welfare Conditionality project briefing papers published

The first Briefing Papers for Welfare Conditionality: Sanctions, Support and Behaviour Change have been published. The Welfare Conditionality Project aims to conduct independent and high quality research located at the forefront of international debates on the theory and practice of welfare conditionality, exploring the effectiveness and the ethics of conditionality.
The Briefing Papers represent some of the first outputs for the project and outline the current ‘state of play’ across a range of policy areas, with the Papers focusing on Disability and Migration being co-authored by SHUSU’s Dr Lisa Scullion.
The Welfare Conditionality project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funded under the Centres and Large Grants Scheme. It is a five year project which brings together researchers working in six English and Scottish Universities i.e. University of Glasgow, Heriot-Watt University, University of Salford, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Sheffield and the University of York, which acts as the central hub for this collaborative partnership. SHUSU’s Dr Lisa Scullion represents the University of Salford on this project.
