Santander partnership strengthened at House of commons

Tuesday 22 March 2016

THE UNIVERSITY of Salford has extended a partnership with Santander which offers hundreds of student internships and travel bursaries plus supports graduates' and undergraduates' business ideas.

The partnership, signed at the House of Commons, includes the offer of paid 3-month internships with small and medium enterprises to final year students, Masters students and recent graduates.

Santander has pledged £180,000 to the scheme through its Universities Global Division bringing its investment in careers for Salford students to nearly a half a million pounds since 2013.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Helen Marshall said: “I am very pleased to be able to strengthen our partnership with Santander for another three years. Our agreement means that we can continue to offer our students and employees opportunities internationally and in the UK.”

Robin Foale, Managing Director of Santander Universities UK, said: “We are delighted to renew our agreement with the University of Salford. The ultimate beneficiaries of this new agreement are the students and researchers to whom, through our funding, we help achieve their academic goals.”

Triple support

The three areas of support from Santander are:

- Financial support for travel and mobility scholarships for students and colleagues to study or research overseas

- Santander Universities also provide support with internships which allow Salford students or recent graduates to gain work experience in small to medium businesses.

- Support for student and graduate entrepreneurs
