About the University of Salford –Industry Collaboration Zones:

TheUniversity works with industry in a number of ways to meet global challenges. Our founding ambition in the late 19th century was to provide a technicallyproficient and professional workforce to support the North West’s rapidlygrowing industries and this still holds strong. Whilst the industries ofSalford, Greater Manchester and the North West have changed significantly, their need to access a rich talent pool of future employees, as well as theknowledge and research of academics is equally relevant today. The ICZ programmeaddresses how we shape and structure the University’s contribution to meetingthese global challenges, using existing resources and ideas in new ways todevelop truly exceptional industry partnerships.

The ICZsoffer a real-world approach to learning with a flexible, industry-informed andresearch-based curriculum co-created by the University and industry. Salford istherefore the university of choice for students wanting a hands-on, work-basedhigh quality learning experience.

Flexiblework-based learning is central to all our programmes, at all levels of study.Industry placements actively prepare our students for employment, equippingthem with the necessary skills needed to succeed in the workplace and allowingthem to test out their theoretical knowledge.

TheUniversity is developing four ‘Zones’: - Engineering & Environment, Healthand Wellbeing, Digital & Creative, and Sport.
