NME & Salford collaborate to inspire creative careers

MUSIC magazine brand NME is partnering the University of Salford to inspire young people’s careers in the creative industries.NME #Lifehacks features a line-up of entrepreneurs and high-profile experts from music, fashion, media, film and tech in a series of talks, workshops and Q&As for young creative in the London area.

Supported by The University of Salford, the iconic brand is extending #Lifehacks into a year-long campaign and has launched the Ultimate Work Experience programme, which offers students placements in the magazine industry. To support this, a video series called ‘30 Seconds to Greatness’ will run on NME’s website. 


Hannah Burchell, Associate Director of Marketing at the University of Salford, said: “Helping today's young people to identify and take advantage of opportunities to work directly with business and industry experts is at the heart of our teaching model. 

'Greatness' 

“We look to equip our students with the skills and confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world and working with NME brings a unique and inspirational approach to preparing young people for life.”

The campaign was kick-started on 1 September and the first event will take place on 23 November.

’30 Seconds to Greatness’ features celebrities and high-flying professionals offering words of wisdom and chimes with Salford’s brand values ‘Industry, Initiative, Integrity’.

Mike Williams, NME editor-in-chief said: “We hope you’ll hear them and feel inspired to make a few of those big decisions in life a little bit easier and help you on your way to achieve all the things you want to.”

Tinie Tempah

At last year’s event, online entrepreneur Jamal Edwards MBE, who has worked with Jessie J, Emeli Sandé and Ed Sheeran, was the headline speaker. Tinie Tempah brought the event to a close with an intimate gig.
