Salford students land starting positions at Salford City FC

Wednesday 2 August 2017

TWO SALFORD students have been offered jobs to work with the Class of 92’s Salford City FC as the new football season starts.

Over the last three years, Ryan Deane has worked as the Film Project Manager for the Class of '92 Partnership and Salford Business School and Will Moorcroft has been the Journalism Officer for Salford City FC and the University's Industry Collaboration Zone.

At the same time, Ryan studied a Masters degree in Digital Marketing and Will, studied for a Postgraduate Certificate in Marketing. The pair have been offered full time positions within Salford City FC’s media and marketing team.

Both students previously worked with the University, as a part of the agreement between the University of Salford and the Class of ’92, to help involve students in the development of Salford City FC, the Old Trafford Supporters’ Club and Hotel Football.

As part of the agreement with Salford City FC, students have been working to develop the club's social media, create the match day programmes and film match highlights, post-match interviews with managers and players as well other promotional content.

The club, which is owned by former Manchester United players Gary and Phil Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt has recently turned professional, meaning players and staff will go full time.

Ryan, who also studied BSc Professional Sound and Video Technology at undergraduate level and will start as the clubs Media and Marketing Manager, said: “without the skills I've learnt studying and working at the university, I wouldn’t be here today.”
