Fingers on the buttons for GAMELAB 2018

Thursday 4 October 2018

GAMING, Virtual & Augmented Reality and Creative Media fuse for a weekend of fun and new ideas as part of Manchester Science Festival (MSF, 18 – 28 October 2018).

GAMELAB – held at The University of Salford campus, Media City UK – features new technology and hands-on exhibits over the weekend 20 & 21 October.

From controllable digital fish to the latest virtual reality from VR Manchester, eSport demos, retro platforms and interactive VJ events across three floors of activity.

The University of Salford is lead educational sponsor of MSF again and a leader in computer games development, VR, AR and science communication.

Manchester Science Festival lead for Salford, Professor Andy Miah said: “GAMELAB is great fun for all the family and also a brilliant sand pit for ideas, whether for students or potential students.

“We want to see your ideas for games or what we can do with existing or retro games and perhaps we can help you on a career as a developers or an entrepreneur.”

Adam Mac Williams from VR Manchester said: "This is our second year collaborating with GAMELAB and we find it a fantastic event for VR developers to show off what they're working on and get feedback from real players in a relaxed, friendly environment and at the same time inspire visitors to get involved in the industry and maybe create their own immersive experiences."

This year’s Research Showcase at GAMELAB features MICROBIhoME, an interactive series of exhibits led by published biologists exhibiting the wonders of the microbial world’s relationship with the human body.
