'Rising Star' surveyors invited to London industry event

YOUNG chartered surveyors discussed urban planning, finance and management in the construction industry with top professionals, courtesy of the University of Salford.

Ten undergraduates were among high-level delegates at the World Built Environment Forum in London, hosted by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

The theme of this year’s event was ‘Our Changing World:Urbanisation, Innovation and Civilisation’, a developing research area at the university’s School of Built Environment.

Student attendance at the forum is part of the RICS Rising Stars initiative, a UK scheme to create the new leaders in the profession.

RICS accredits the School’s degree programmes in Quantity SurveyingBuilding Surveying and Construction Project Management (Sri Lanka).

The group were joined at the London forum by dean of school Professor Hisham Elkadi and the director of architecture Professor Peter Walker.
