Salford internship fund leads to full-time jobs

Monday 24 September 2018

JOB-HUNTING students are now benefiting from a scheme which helps them to work while they study.

The Salford Advantage Internship Fund runs in conjunction with banking giant Santander which funds small businesses to provide more than 30 paid internships to students each year.

Some provide students with work experience within the assessed curriculum (such as Business Innovation Projects) while others are over the Easter period or summer months.

Digital Marketing student Emily Triplett was one of the first to benefit from the scheme with a six-month placement at digital agency Huddle.

The 21 year-old impressed running the firm’s various client accounts and has now been offered a full-time role there.

Impressed

Huddle co-founder Tom Parson said: “We were really impressed with Emily’s tenacious attitude and eagerness to learn new skills, and are delighted that she can join us at what is an exciting time for the business.”

Ian Boardman, Head of Career Development & Employment at the University of Salford, said: “We are delighted that Emily had such a successful internship and that she has now been recruited into a permanent role.Congratulations to both Emily and Huddle!”

“Internships are a great way for employers to try out the talents that a student or graduate can provide, whilst interns gain valuable work experience, develop competencies and have an opportunity to impress a potentially longer term employer,” continued Boardman.

Emily said: “I really enjoyed my internship here at Huddle. The team helped me to develop my skills in lots of different areas and I’m excited to have been offered a permanent role.”
