Successful women in radio take centre stage at Nations and Regions Media Conference

Successful women in radio will take centre stage at the 24th Nations and Regions Media Conference next month.
Three female presenters - Anna Foster, Trish Adudu and Chelsea Norris will take part in a special session entitled Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves: Successful Women in Radio at the University of Salford event next month.
All three, who have presenting roles on radio stations based outside of London, have inspiring stories to tell of how they’ve succeeded in the industry. The session will be chaired Former GMG-Radio boss John Simons.
Multiple award winner
Anna Foster is a co-presenter of Drive on Radio 5 live and has reported on major stories across the UK and around the world for the last 15 years.
A multiple New York Radio Award winner, she has travelled to Sierra Leone to tell the story of the Ebola outbreak, reported from the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, explored the famine in South Sudan and covered terror attacks throughout Europe.
She has also presented BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat programme, is passionate about developing the next generation of journalists, and offers encouragement and mentoring to help increase the visibility of women in the media.
After representing England in netball and starting her broadcasting career as an assistant producer on Grandstand and Match Of The Day, Trisha Adudu now presents the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Breakfast Show as well as working for Midlands Today and reporting on The One Show.
She has previously presented on BBC2’s Reportage, appeared on shows such as Loose Women and is also many of her ideas have been turned into TV documentaries, such as So You Think You Can Teach (Channel 5) Sports Shack (ITV2) and Child Snatchers (ITV Living).
Chelsea Norris co-presented Key 103’s Breakfast Show after stints as a newsreader on Sheffield’s Hallam FM and Manchester’s Century Radio.
During her time at the station, the show won the Sony Radio best Breakfast Show Award twice, took Gold at the New York Radio Awards and, with co-presenter Mike Toolan, was nominated for Best Presenters and Best Breakfast Show at the Sony’s and the Commercial Radio Awards. She now hosts Radio Manchester’s Drivetime Show.
Radio in the 21st century
This year’s Nation and Regions Media Conference will be co-hosted by another successful woman in Radio - Katie Thistleton. Katie and fellow Radio 1 presenter Jordan North will lead a whole day of discussion around radio and audio in a conference looking at the sector in the 21st Century.

Meet the commissioners
The Nations and Regions Media Conference will take place at University of Salford, MediaCityUK on April 19 and will include sessions on radio comedy, the future of local commercial radio, original online audio content, children’s audio and music among others.
The popular Meet the Commissioners sessions continue, in which independent producers and others are encouraged to discuss their ideas and proposals with the Commissioning Editors from different networks and audio platforms including Radio 2 and 6 Music, 5Live, Radio Wales and Audible.
