From a Vegan delivery company to a business using VR to train Olympians, the first cohort of entrepreneurial students and graduates from the Launch@SalfordUni business incubator have made remarkable progress over the last six months.
The first cohort ran from September to March and saw over half of the entrepreneurs secure funding between £250- £1,000 from the University.
Nicole Lane, who set up the not-for-profit business Project:Trinity with the help of Launch @SalfordUni said:
“I was really nervous about coming to Launch as I am not business minded. It helped me grow my confidence and understand a business from a logical mindset and not simply a creative one.
Everybody was friendly and approachable and genuinely seem to want to make your business a success. I would never have had the confidence to pitch for funds before Launch. Now, I am looking up more opportunities for funding. “
Another success from the incubator has been Candace James’ business. Through Launch @SalfordUni she has set up Vegapost.com, a web-based company allowing users to sign up for vegan food deliveries.
She said: “Without the help of Salford University I wouldn’t have been able to get this off the ground at all, I have been supported all the way through what has been quite a journey to get my business this far.”
