Peel Park Quarter nominated for award

Tuesday 15 December 2015

IN JUST three short months, it’s transformed student life at Salford, created a new campus skyline and raised the bar for university accommodation nationwide!

Now the University of Salford's Peel Park Quarter has been shortlisted for its first award by respected business magazine Insider.

Completed on time, on budget and boasting gyms, mini-cinemas and underground parking, the 1,367 rooms in a seven-block complex were snapped up by students drawn to the idea of luxury living on campus.

Run by nationally-acclaimed agency Campus Living Villages, a long-term partner of Salford University, the Quarter and associated public realm has revitalised the campus, quadrupling the number of live-in students, enhancing both campus activities and student safety.

Fabulous feedback

The shortlisting for the inaugural Insider North West Residential Property Awards adds to some fabulous feedback from students who describe the halls as ‘brilliant’, “so convenient” and “facilities superb”.

Marina Hristova, President of the Student’s Union at the University of Salford, said: “The new accommodation looks fantastic. It accommodates for every modern student’s needs and more with its state-of-the art facilities and its on-campus location, and this only further enhances the student experience for those who study here.”

Director of Estates and IT Stephen Talboys, who will attend the awards, said: “We’re delighted to hear that our brilliant new student accommodation has been shortlisted for this award. The £81m project was delivered to time, budget and quality dimensions, with a construction period of under two years and the fact it’s fully let shows that it really meets the high expectation of today’s students.”

Peel Park Quarter also gives ‘freshers’ their first sense of Salfordian community history being named after local heros and heroines including LS Lowry, Emmeline Pankhurst and Shelagh Delaney.

Urban Development of the Year

The residences are nominated in the category ‘Urban Residential Development of the Year’ with the awards at the Midland Hotel, Manchester on 27 January 2016.
