Shortlist Announced for 2015 North West Regional Construction Awards

Thursday 19 March 2015

Following a record number of entries, the shortlist for the 2015 North West Regional Construction Awards (NWRCA) 2015 has been announced.

The awards are organised by the North West Hub for Constructing Excellence in partnership with the Centre for Construction Innovation and the School of the Built Environment at the University of Salford.

In total, applications were up 32% for this year’s awards, which will be presented by comedian, writer and former Coronation Street actor John Thomson at the Palace Hotel, Manchester, on Thursday 4 June 2015.

Following the success of last year’s ‘One Night in Marakkesh’ theme, this year’s event will have a ‘Putting on the Glitz’ theme. Now in their ninth year, the 2015 awards will celebrate another stellar year for the region’s construction industry, following the news that almost 5,000 jobs are set to be created annually within the sector over the next five years.

The 2015 awards shortlist contains over 80 leading small, medium and large-scale organisations from across the region’s construction industry. The awards are split across 18 categories, including a new category recognising the BIM Project of the Year, in addition to awards such as ‘Project of the Year’, ‘SME of the Year’ and ‘Heritage Award.’

Winners from the NWRCA 2015 will go head-to-head with winners from across the UK at the annual Constructing Excellence National Awards.

Head Judge, Professor Peter McDermott from the School of the Built Environment at the University of Salford, has been impressed by the number of entrants this year.

Speaking ahead of the event, he said: “The standard across the board has been really high and, as ever, it makes me really proud to be part of such an innovative industry.

“We are all looking forward to the ceremony taking place; it is set to be a fantastic evening of reward, recognition and celebration.”
